So, who's going?

A special event? Reece and Steve doing a Q&A? Hitchcock's Rope and the superb Psychoville episode 4 shown back to back? Now that's what I call an evening out. But you'd better buy your tickets sharpish!

So, who's going?

Great cause, great film and, in my thieving opinion, the very best Psychoville episode. Who knows, if you're good, there may even be a competition for a couple of tickets.
But only if you're good. Or maybe witty. By the way, prolific is not the same as witty...
Then again, why take the chance? Get some bought for thi' sens.

I would love to go and am going to do my best to get there. I live in Yorkshire so would need to stay overnight and get back the next day for a hot air balloon ride over York for my Dad's 60th - know where I would rather be!

What a fantastic idea, thanks for letting us know. Where do we get tickets from? I think I will just buy some and sort the rest out from there. Oooh can't wait - sorry, no wit here, I'm too excited. It would be great for us all to meet up and reminisce over those few weeks we spent transfixed in the land of Psychoville!

I am! I am! I am! Bit over-excited. Despite my daughter's harrowing tale of how she once got stranded in East Finchley, I'm dragging her along as navigator. Thanks so much for the heads-up.

Reet, cinema tickets bought, bus journey to newcastle worked out, train tickets from newcastle to kings cross worked out, tube travel worked out and have found reasonable place to stay very close to kings cross, thing is, with all these bliddy serial killers and knife crimers lurking about nowadays, would rather not be traveling at night so by any chance does anyone know of a (cheap!) place to stay within walking distance of the phoenix theatre?? Have googled till I'm blue in the face but cant find anything.

I know its a bit of a long shot but any info will be much appreciated

Hi Aileen W, you may be as well going for the Kings Cross option. It's 6 stops down the Northern and you'll be handy for your train back. Kings Cross Travelodge has the Friday for £55 which is reasonable and pretty much 'roach free for London - you can go cheaper, but there are very many 'Rillington Places' around the 'Cross. Caveat Emptor. Not too many options around The Phoenix but if more learn'd contributors would like to pitch, please do.

This public service announcements ends.

BTW - for those of you making the effort, I promise at least one drink 'on the Stump'...

Thanks for the advice tea leaf, kings cross it is.

Am kicking myself though cos, had I booked it last week when I first started looking, I could have had a room at the farringdon travelodge for £35 and I believe its only a short walk from the station. Hey ho, you know what they say, he who proscrastinates does something that rhymes with procrastinates but means he loses out

Roll on April 23rd!!! I hope I didnt make you feel so guilty that you felt you had to offer everyone a drink on the house by the way (MMMMmmwwwwaaaaahhhhaaaaahhhaaaaaaa my evil plan worked - mines a jug of sangria  )

Bliss, wasn't it. Although I forced my daughter (she's 21, and I've never been able to force her to do anything--for those of you thinking "child abuse") to wear the Squid Theory T-shirt, no one came up to us last night shouting "Fellow Stumper!" Do we have a Stumper Secret Handshake? We do have one, don't we? That sounds horribly wrong, stumper secret handshake. Mr Jelly would not be amused.

If I had an eidetic memory I could give the entire Q&A, but I don't. A few highlights: hour-long Halloween special; six further half-hour eps in Spring 2011; new characters; I think Maureen's going to be one of them (Reece spoke of her in the future tense); Reece is the pacer, Steve is the one lying down when they write--no one types (maybe they have voice recognition on their computer); it took them about two weeks' writing, two weeks' re-writing, for each episode of Series 1; necessity was the mother of invention for the Rope-homage episode (but we knew that from the DVD); Maureen & David were Steve & Reece's favourite characters; the Superman dance was deliberate reference to Nietzsche (whose philosophical idea of man & superman underpinned the warped motive for the murder in Rope--and in real life, of course, for those of us who know that Rope is based on the Leopold & Loeb murder case).

Everyone post what they remember, before the dementia takes it away forever.

I went up to Reece afterwards, to get an autograph. I asked him if there were any squids in Series 2, and, before he was able to call security (I think I frightened him horribly), I was able to explain what I meant. Sadly ... no squids, radioactive or otherwise. Although he did say that it was a better idea than what he and Steve had written. What a charming liar he is. I got the impression he hadn't read anything on RRS, but maybe he knew about it?

He did thank us for the RRS board. So, thanks Tealeaf! You're the one he should have been talking to!
