Maureen's Bontempi

Maureen Sowerbutts is a former battered wife who decided to spice up her husband's diet with an additive or two. She was also happy to see her son David locked up at Ravenhill after his 'Sleepy Smash' finished off the late John Sowerbutts.

I used to have a Bontempi when I was a kid. They sounded bloody horrible. Messr's Pemberton & Shearsmith seem to have a knack for little nostalgias...

Was it one of those with the cord buttons on the left hand side? Probably came with a tiny music book containing such copyright free classics as 'Skip to Ma' loo' and 'The Camptown Races'.
I found a few on ebay - check out these hideous Bontempi organs. I'm amazed any have survived.

My friend Tracy used to have one, it was bright orange and her dog used to join in when she played it (badly). I thikn it sounds extra funny coming in a Yorkshire accent, and I'm allowed to say that because I'm a Yorkshire lass, 5 miles from Ilkley incidently.

Maybe, one day, Maureen will be able to graduate to a Farfisa. I had one of those too. It was 50 times more expensive and about a thousand times nastier in every necessary respect.
